James Dondero is a Texas entrepreneur that has an eye for business and a heart for charity. James graduated from University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce. His degrees are in Finance and Accounting. In addition to his degrees Mr. Dondero also holds certifications as a Certified Management Accountant and a Chartered Financial Analyst. James has over thirty years of experience in credit and equity markets but long before he co-founded Highland Capital Management he had a career focus on becoming an analyst. In 1984 he was accepted into the Morgan Guaranty training program and by 1985 he joined American Express as Corporate Bond Analysis. With a keen direction of where he wanted his career to take him James Dondero left American Express in 1989 after establishing himself as a portfolio manager for one billion dollars in fixed income funds.
