Three Topics Brian Torchin has Written About

Many people know Brian Torchin is the CEO of Health Care Recruitment Counselors, also known as HCRC. What they may not know is that he’s written many articles on HCRC’s website. Some of the subjects he’s written about include medical mindfulness, how to handle toxic employees, the doctor-staff relationship, and why it’s important to classify employees correctly.

Medical Mindfulness

In his article “Medical Mindfulness: Beating Physician Burnout in 2016,” Brian Torchin talks about signs that indicate physicians may be burnt out, and how they can overcome them and avoid burnout. He asks physicians to look at their relationships and how they’ve changed over the last year. If they’ve gotten worse, he urges them to figure out why, and consider making changes.

Handling Toxic Employees

He also suggests that the person in charge document every time an employee behaves inappropriately or is confrontational with the staff. He also suggests working with the employee by setting a time to advise them if needed and trying to find out why the employee is being confrontational.

The Doctor-Staff Relationship

In “Managing the Team: The Doctor-Staff Relationship,” he discusses ways doctors can keep up with different changes in regulations, advances in treatment, and new billing and coding practices while still standing out as being a skilled, caring and trustworthy physician and maintain good relationships with their staff. Brian Torchin suggests sending new hires a welcome email when they start their employment and taking some time to talk to them on the first day. He also stresses the importance of making them feel like they’re a part of the team and watching their performance in the first few weeks. Finally, he suggests letting new employees know their value early on.
